Theme: Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Parkaash Purab
Prizes: Prizes will be given to the top placing students in each group.
Topics
Grade 5 and younger – Share a Sakhi of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji that really resonates with you. What does this Sakhi teach us about being a good Sikh in our daily lives?
Grade 6-7 – As an elementary school student, how can we implement Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of Naam Japna, Kirt Karni and Vand Chakna in our daily lives?
Grade 8-9 – Share three pauris from Sri Japji Sahib that you think are especially meaningful or helpful to you to become closer to Vaheguru Ji and why?
Grade 10-12 – How do you think Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings can uniquely help make today’s world a better place?
Speech length guidelines
Grade 4-5 – 4 mins
Grade 6-7 – 5 mins
Grade 8-9 – 6 mins
Grade 10-12 – 7 mins
Competition Guidelines
1. Speeches must be original and composed by the participant.
2. Students may refer to brief cue cards or bullet points, but reading the entire speech is not allowed.
3. Speeches must be delivered in English or Punjabi (or a mix of both, if comfortable).
4. Students are encouraged to include relevant Sikh history, Gurbani references, and personal reflections.
5. The content must be respectful, appropriate, and related to the assigned topic.
