Theme: Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Shaheedi Purab
Prizes: Prizes will be given to the top 5 placing students in each group.
Topics
Grade 4-5 – What can Baba Gobind Rai’s actions relating to his father’s Shaheedi teach us about what it means to be a Sikh?
Grade 6-7 – What does Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Shaheedi teach us that can help us be a better Sikh in our day to day lives?
Grade 8-9 – What are (at least) three Gurbani Pankitis that make you connect more deeply with Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Shaheedi and why?
Grade 10-12 – What does Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Shaheedi teach us about resisting tyranny in today’s world?
Speech length guidelines
Grade 4-5 – 4 mins
Grade 6-7 – 5 mins
Grade 8-9 – 6 mins
Grade 10-12 – 7 mins
Competition Guidelines
1. Speeches must be original and composed by the participant.
2. Students may refer to brief cue cards or bullet points, but reading the entire speech is not allowed.
3. Speeches must be delivered in English or Punjabi (or a mix of both, if comfortable).
4. Students are encouraged to include relevant Sikh history, Gurbani references, and personal reflections.
5. The content must be respectful, appropriate, and related to the assigned topic.
