S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
Khalsa School Old Yale Road’s S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and
Math) program engages students in hands-on learning experiences that promote
creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Aligned with the BC Curriculum’s Core
Competencies, Big Ideas, and Curricular Competencies, STEAM projects
encourage students to explore real-world connections through innovation and
collaboration.
Students of Grades 4-7 participate in diverse projects that integrate advanced tools and
technologies. Key platforms such as VEX Robotics, Minecraft
Education, Codementum, Code.org, and Scratch inspire curiosity and innovation.
These tools help students learn to code, build and program robots, create interactive
projects, and develop computational thinking in a fun and engaging way. Platforms
like Scratch allow students to design animations, games, and stories, making
programming accessible and creative for learners of all levels.
Each year, the program evolves to incorporate new resources and technologies,
ensuring students remain engaged and develop skills aligned with BC’s vision for
applied learning. Through S.T.E.A.M education, students cultivate a love for exploration,
creativity, and innovation, equipping them with the competencies needed to thrive in a
changing world.
