Who We Are

Educational Services

At Khalsa School, we believe that Every Child Can Learn. All students should have equitable access to learning, opportunities for achievement, and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their educational programs.

Khalsa School has a Learning Assistance program for students who are not meeting grade level expectations. Each student benefiting from Learning Assistance has a learning plan written for him/her, with long and short term goals. Parents are encouraged to support these goals at home. The primary focus is to enable these students performing at their grade level as soon as possible. Should there be a need for further assessment, this is arranged in consultation with parents and teachers by our coordinator for this program.

We welcome students with identified special needs in the following areas provided supplement Special Needs funding is received and that the appropriate program, facilities, and personnel are available to meet the needs of the student:

  • Moderate Intellectual Disabilities
  • Physical Disability or Chronic Health Impairment
  • Dear or Hard of Hearing
  • Visual Impairment
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Behaviour Interventions or Mental Illness

Special Needs funding is used to support personnel, resources, and contract services. Individual Education Plans (IEPs) will be implemented based on the student’s needs. We will work in partnership with parents and outside professionals to address the student’s needs. Assistive technology may be utilized.

Students with learning difficulties or behavioural challenges who are not eligible for supplemental funding in the above categories will be supported if the appropriate program, facilities, and personnel are available to meet the needs of the student.
